There are three main reasons why patients from 25+ countries swear by Marmmayogi. But before that we're sure you would like to know how Ayurveda can treat your sleep disorder and give you a higher 'quality of life'.

What is a sleep disorder and insomnia?

A sleep disorder is any condition that disturbs your normal sleeping pattern. There are more than 80 types, but some common signs include:

  • Difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep
  • Feeling tired despite 7-8 hours of sleep
  • Feeling moody, anxious, irritable, or emotional through the day
  • Continuously reaching for caffeine or sugar for energy
  • Difficulty in concentration and remembering things – brain fog, reduced focus, lack of enthusiasm
  • Waking up with a headache, dry mouth or sore throat
  • Nightmares or disturbing dreams
  • Sleepwalking or sleeptalking
  • Feeling a sudden need for a nap, like you’re having a ‘sleep attack’ during the day
  • Wanting frequent naps and falling asleep at odd times (e.g. while reading, driving, working) Loud or frequent snoring, gasping or choking during sleep
  • Restless legs or tingling sensations at night
  • Bedwetting

Occasional disturbed sleep is normal, but if poor sleep becomes regular, it may signal a sleep disorder. Over time, this can increase the risk of serious health issues like weight gain, depression, metabolic disorders, low immunity, heart issues and other chronic illnesses.

What causes sleep disorders according to Ayurveda?

According to Ayurveda, the neurological system and restful sleep are governed by a delicate balance of the Vata and Pitta doshas. When these energies are disturbed, the mind and body can’t fully relax.

Excess Vata —> racing thoughts, anxiety, restlessness, and difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep

Excess Pitta —> Overheating, irritability, night sweats, and vivid or disturbing dreams

Stress, irregular routines, late-night screen time, poor diet, certain medications, pre-existing conditions and toxin build-up can all worsen these imbalances. That’s why simple bedtime rituals aren’t always enough – they soothe the surface, but don’t resolve the root imbalance and metabolism.

How can Ayurveda treat sleep disorders and insomnia?

Our approach combines traditional Ayurvedic treatments, Marma therapies and supportive lifestyle guidance to calm the nervous system, improve circulation, clear toxins and promote deep, natural rest.

Step 1: Reduce toxins and stress We start with gentle therapies like “dhara” (where a continuous stream of medicated oil, liquid, or yoghurt is poured on the head) help calm the mind and reduce stress and anxiety. Breathing practices (pranayam) are also introduced to relax the nervous system.

Step 2: Eliminate accumulated toxins We administer medicated enemas, controlled sweating, purgation or vomiting to help release accumulated toxins. The exact treatment depends on your condition and constitution.

Step 3: Strengthen body tissues Through targeted therapeutic massages, we rebuild strength in the weakened body tissues to sustain the newly balanced doshas and metabolic fire. Pranayama also plays a key role in rejuvenation.

Step 4: Stimulate energy flow Marma therapy, yoga and meditation help activate the flow of prana (life energy) and release unblocked energy. This accelerates the process of metabolic balancing.

Ongoing care

After discharge, it’s important to continue with internal medicines, follow a nourishing diet, maintain a balanced lifestyle, practice a soothing, consistent sleep-wake schedule and regularly follow the recommended yoga asanas and pranayamas. These ongoing habits help sustain the benefits of the treatment and support long-term healing.

Now the 3 reasons why patients from 25+ countries trust us.

Reason one: Marma Ayurveda

Like most Ayurveda hospitals we also do the the oil baths, massages and heat packs. What differentiates us is that, we also add-on a specialized branch of Kerala Ayurveda called Marma Ayurveda.

What is Marma Ayurveda? It is common knowledge that healing is much faster when the mind energy supports the treatment on the physical body. The mind-body is connected by energy channels which get blocked or weakened due to the disease. By cleaning and strengthening these channels through Marma Ayurveda, the mind energy flows freely towards the diseased parts. At Marmmayogi, Marma Ayurveda is done along with the Ayurveda treatments, making the massages and therapies far more effective. With Marma Yoga and Marma Meditation, the additional focus on mind-body channels is complete. All this makes the healing process faster. (KNOW MORE ABOUT MARMA AYURVEDA)

Reason two: Personalised attention and treatment

While the common Ayurveda treatments (massages and oil baths) are done by trained therapists, Marma therapy needs years of practice. The chief physician Dr. Manoj, who comes with a family tradition of 250 years, has been personally trained by his grandfather. Dr. Manoj has to do it personally on each patient. Since there is a limit to the number of patients Dr. Manoj can personally attend, we are a small hospital with limited number of rooms. With the doctor and his family staying on the premises, our patients are also pleasantly surprised with the family atmosphere and personalized attention.

Marma Therapy

Marma Therapy by the Doctor

While Traditional Kerala Ayurveda Therapy is done by Therapists, the Marma Therapy is done by Dr Manoj specific to the health issue.

Reason three: Special proprietary medicines

With a family tradition of 250 years, many highly effective medicines have been handed down over generations. These medicines are not available outside. Fresh herbs collected from the herbal garden are used very frequently in the treatments. All this makes the process far more effective.
